I haven't tried writing a song with a narrative storyline in a while, so here's an attempt at working that muscle. I started by writing an outline of a short story that the song would be based on - and then wrote the song. The premise is just about some guy who worked at some big-money American corporation who cooks the books, steals a fortune, and then disappears to San Alejo, El Salvador.

I suppose if there were more verses, I could have gotten him finally caught by the feds years later after becoming deeply in love with his new village or something - but they only give you three minutes and change in a pop song.
