I did an interesting, albeit terrifying experiment with this song. Knowing it was the grand finale of the record was daunting enough - but what I chose as a thought experiment was - what if this was the last song I ever wrote? How would I sum up the point of all of this, my entire body of work? My entire life even? I chose love, because in the end - its the only thing that matters here on our tiny lit speck of dust floating in a vast cosmic sea. It is the love we give each other that gives any of this purpose and meaning, and I have been blessed with some really spectacular humans to love. I wrote this for a very small group of those people, but in essence - its for everyone, and that message is that despite all the darkness, and confusion and depressing nihilism - ALL OF US deserve love, and giving it to one another is the most, if not only, important thing we can do with our time here. As such - I felt like it was definitely worthy of having over to Alex Wharton at Abbey Road to give it it’s best possible sonic representation.
